Three passages from the book

So you know what you are getting into, here are three passages from the story. The tone stays like this across all 42 pages.

The beginning

The sun was slowly setting and Jacob was about to get into bed when he heard a buzzing sound in his room. It was coming from a little bumblebee by the window. It flew up and down because it couldn't get out. Jacob went to the window and looked at the bumblebee for a while. It looked like a little soft, blue ball of wool.

The Unifant explains itself

“I am the green Unifant,” answered the little creature. “I have a trunk so that I can pull up the grass that I eat. My huge ears are for hearing things far away, so I know when my friend, the blue bumblebee, is coming for a visit. I'm green so that no one can find me in the grass. And one leg is enough for me: with one leg, I can travel anywhere.”

The lake

“Why should I take up more space than I really need?” answered the lake. “If I flowed over my banks, I would make everything around me wet. That wouldn't be very nice of me.”

The book was published on 12 December 2024, has 42 fully illustrated pages and takes about 15 minutes to read aloud. It exists only as an eBook, because the glowing green of the meadow cannot be reproduced in standard four-colour printing. The frequently asked questions explain why.
